Our History

Fellowship Bible Church began in the home of Dave and Lillian Malcolm in the summer of 2002. Five families gathered in their living room to pray about the possibilities of starting a new church in the Cedar Park area.

The first official worship service was on Sunday, September 1, 2002 in the lobby of Austin Community College’s Cedar Park campus. Paul Kemp was the founding pastor and a worship team from Desert Springs Bible Church (a church Paul and Cindie had previously planted in Albuquerque) led in worship. Forty people were present for the first service.

On Sunday, December 22, 2004, Fellowship moved from the lobby of Austin Community College to a rented facility in the Railyard Shopping center. By the time we moved to the Railyard nearly 150 people were worshiping with us each week.

In January of 2006, Fellowship started a Saturday night service in Lago Vista in addition to the two Sunday morning services in Cedar Park. Many of the founding families of Fellowship lived in Lago Vista and had a desire to see a church like Fellowship established in their community. Paul and various worship teams made the trip out to Lago Vista each Saturday night through the Summer of 2006. In the early fall of 2006, the Lago Vista congregation launched as an independent church, North Lake Bible Church, with over 35 families from the Cedar Park Campus.

After the launch of North Lake, the leadership of Fellowship turned their attention to the search of a future home for the life and ministry of the Church. In the spring of 2007, we located 21 acres on Parmer Lane from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  The property is just south of the 1431 intersection.  We are currently in the process of raising money and preparing to build on the site.

In January of 2008, Fellowship began meeting for worship in the Cinemark at the 1890 Ranch, while we prepare to build on the parmer property. Today, over 400 people gather with us each week for worship.  Someone recently described Fellowship as a church with a careful balance of “grace” and “truth”—a place that is safe enough to bring your non-Christian friends, but sound enough to gently challenge them with truth. We could not ask for more.
